Faith Statement

I am a child of God. I am also a sinner in need of my Savior, Jesus Christ. Through His sacrifice and grace, I am forgiven and loved.   In response, I feel called to love and serve Him in all that I do.  I am so blessed to teach in a Christian school where I can share Jesus’ love with His children every day, and where we can learn about God and the world He created.

Biography

I grew up in Grand Rapids and attended Calvin College. I studied Elementary Education and graduated with an Early Childhood General and Special Education endorsement.   This will be my second year as a teacher, as well as my second year in Pre-K at JCS!

  1. I competed in cross country and track (steeplechase) in college.
  2. I can ride a unicycle.

Faith Statement

God has been teaching me about His grace. His gift of grace is woven throughout our lives and we need to take that gift, allow God to weave it into our lives, and then share the gift of God’s grace with others. I believe that is what I, as a Christian educator, am called to do every day. Jesus is Lord of my life, and I have accepted His grace and I am teaching to reflect His Love. 

Biography

I graduated from Timothy Christian High School in Elmhurst, IL. Then I attended Calvin College earning a BA in Special Education with an endorsement in Mental Impairment.  I began my teaching career at Lakewood Christian School in Lake Odessa, MI teaching first, second, and third grades. After two years, I started teaching first grade at Calvin Christian. During this time period I obtained a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Calvin College. I taught first grade for seven years. When my family relocated to Hudsonville, MI, I was offered a part-time job teaching K-8 art. I have received a Highly Qualified status to teach K-8 art. I did this for 15 years at Beaverdam Christian School. During the past five years I have been blessed to also teach in multi-aged classrooms with combinations of 2/3, 2/3/4, and 3/4 grade levels. I am currently teaching Pre-Kindergarten at Jenison Christian.

Three Fun Facts
  1. I love to explore God’s creation with my kids on family vacations—I collect rocks from wherever we go.
  2. I love to create with kids, and have had kids help me create four Art Prize entries.
  3. I love learning about God with middle school kids at youth group. Traveling to China, the Ukraine, and the Dominican Republic has changed my life.

Faith Statement

I believe that I am a child of God. Jesus is my Lord and Savior, and I strive to be more like Him in my daily faith journey.  It is such a joy to be teaching God's precious little children. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to share God's love daily with my students as we learn more about Him and His amazing world.

Biography

I grew up in the Holland/Zeeland area. I graduated in 2007 from Calvin College with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with Minors in Language Arts and Science as well as an endorsement in Early Childhood Education. I am currently working towards a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education at Grand Valley State University.

Three Fun Facts
  1. I love to travel and have traveled to Europe four times.
  2. I enjoy watching college football, especially the Michigan State Spartans.
  3. I was a Dutch dancer for Holland's Tulip Time Festival.

Faith Statement

I believe that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior and I am striving to live for Him every day of my life. It is my goal to surrender my life to Jesus and walk humbly with Him in obedience.  I’m thankful for everything that He has done for me. Jesus suffered, died, and He arose for my sins so that I can live eternally with Him. A great way to show my love for Christ is to demonstrate love to others and have a servant heart.

Biography

I attended Hudsonville Christian Elementary School and Unity Christian High School. I graduated from Grand Valley State University with a degree in Elementary Education. I went on a teaching study abroad trip to South Africa and completed my student teaching at West Godwin Elementary School. After graduating, I was a substitute teacher at various schools.  My family and I are very close. I have an older brother and younger brother. I live in Grand Rapids with three girls that I met through a Bible study.

  1. I enjoy camping every weekend in the summer. My family and I water ski, fish, and tube all summer long!
  2. We grow pumpkins and gourds in the Fall.
  3. I love to travel.

Faith Statement

I am a child of God saved by Jesus' shed blood, loved more than I deserve.  I’m thankful for God's calling to Jenison Christian and humbled to be part of a partnership of raising children who live for Christ. My prayer is for each child to see God as we learn and to feel His love in our classroom environment. 

Biography

I grew up in Jenison and went to Jenison Christian K-8th grade. I was in the first graduating class of the "new" middle school! I graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education with a Language Arts endorsement. I am pursuing my Masters in reading through Grand Valley State University.

Faith Statement

My favorite song, “In Christ Alone”, encompasses what I firmly believe. It states through God’s grace my sins have been forgiven and nothing can separate me from His love. Christ commands my destiny and through His power I stand and live to serve Him.  In my classroom I strive to help my students develop their gifts, enjoy learning, explore and care for God’s world, grow in faith, and empower them for a life of service to God and to others. I feel blessed to teach at Jenison Christian School, where I can share an educational and spiritual partnership with my students and their families. 

Biography

I was born in Grand Rapids, MI, and graduated from Grand Rapids Christian High. From Calvin College I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education, with a Language Arts major and a Social Studies minor.  I graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Masters Degree in Education, with a Language Arts focus. I have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades at Jenison Christian School.

  1. My family and I love to travel. A few memorable places include Alaska, Turkey, and Spain.
  2. When I was 8 years old, I won a coloring contest from a pet store, and the prize was a real dog.
  3. I got married on Friday, the 13th.

Faith Statement

Through the years I have seen evidence in my life how God will never leave me. Through unknown futures He has guided me through it all and I know He will continue to do so. God is my constant. I am thankful every day for that. I hope that my students can see God’s love through me in my daily life.

Biography

I grew up in the Hudsonville area. After graduating from Unity Christian High School I went on to Trinity Christian College in Illinois. Being able to be a part of JCS is an answer to prayer as it is close to home and a wonderful Christian community. I look forward to being a part of this community!

Faith Statement

The Lord is my rock and I am his child, which is something I take great comfort in. I am not deserving of his amazing grace, but I am thankful for it everyday. I am looking forward to sharing my faith with the students of JCS, as well as growing in my own faith. God is good!

Biography

I grew up in Grand Rapids and have lived here most of my life. I graduated from Calvin College in 2011, was married shortly after, and then my husband and I moved to Virginia. We enjoyed our few years there, but decided to move back after our daughter was born. I love teaching and am thrilled to be part of the JCS family!

I believe that I am a child of God and created in His image. He loves me and offers me undeserving grace.  I am so excited to be a part of the Jenison Christian School family and to have the unique opportunity to teach students in a place where faith and learning are inseparable. I desire to continually grow in my relationship with Christ, and it is my prayer that each of my students will know God as their Lord and Savior.

Biography

I grew up in Holland, Michigan and attended Calvin College where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and English as a Second Language endorsement. I have lived and taught in Mississippi, Indiana and Chicago. After my son was born, my husband and I decided to move back to West Michigan and I am excited to be part of JCS!

       1. I love camping, hiking, and outdoor adventures.
       2. During college, I studied in Spain for 6 months and lived with a host family.
       3. I've traveled to 16 different countries.
