Curriculum
The foundational belief that Jesus Christ is Lord of all is the guiding principle for teaching and learning at Jenison Christian School. The Jenison Christian School curriculum emphasizes the importance of a solid academic curriculum that challenges students to respond in faith and obedience.
- Every subject is taught from a Christian perspective using Biblically based, standards focused (state of Michigan) curricula.
- The interrelatedness of all subjects becomes evident in the study of the unity of God's creation.
- Teachers use a variety of teaching strategies that meet the needs of a broad range of learners.
Assessment
Jenison Christian School uses a variety of assessment instruments. These assessments are used for curriculum review and to monitor JCS students compared to state and private school groups. Grades 3-8 are given the state of Michigan MEAP (Michigan Education Assessment Program), which helps JCS align its curriculum with state standards. In addition, students in grades K-3 are given the DIBELS assessment (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) to determine reading readiness and monitor progress.
