My personal relationship with the Lord is the most important thing to me, and it permeates all aspects of my life. I believe that I am saved by God’s grace alone even though I am a sinner undeserving of this grace. I also believe that as a follower of Christ I have the opportunity to shine my light for Jesus. As a servant of God, I actively seek to weave the Lord’s sovereignty into everything I teach. My hope is that the students I encounter will experience God’s grace and learn to shine their lights for Jesus in all they do.
I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois and attended public school until college. I graduated from Calvin College with a degree in Elementary Education with an Early Childhood Education endorsement. Additionally, I have a minor that focuses on Urban Education and Sociology. I completed two unique student teaching experiences: one in an early childhood/special education three-year-old classroom, and the other in the Chicago Public School System in Chicago, Illinois. Reluctant to leave Chicago, my husband got a job in Grand Rapids which is what ultimately brought us back to Western Michigan! I am thrilled to be back in Grand Rapids and I am thrilled to be a part of the JCS community!
